Start of infection: She may have skinned her foot when she fell.Because she is a diabetic she is more prone to get an infection, therefore it is advisable to have her seen by her doctor to rule out the possibility of an infection.

See her podiatrist.: She should be checked out to make sure she heals properly from her fall. Podiatrists can also provide nail care, check ups, wound care (trimming callus and dead tissue away), write antibiotic prescriptions if necessary (oral, or topical for use on wounds), perform surgery, and get you custom diabetic inserts and shoes to avoid future problems.
