A member asked:

Why do some ssris cause weight gain and others don't? do they alter metabolism or calorie absorbtion different?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hunger in head: Ssri's are a class of antidepressants which also trigger a hunger pathway in the brain. Some bariatricians are looking forward to using wellbutrin (bupropion) and Naltrexone for patients (after approved by fda. This new combination would directly reduce those same hunger hormones.
