How can i know the difference between nerve or skeleto-muscular pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Type of pain: Nerve pain is often described as burning, tingling or numbness. Nerve pain tends to travel along a dermatome (nerve pattern on the skin) and radiate proximally (at the source) to distally (towards the end of an extremity). Musculoskeletal pain can be sharp or dull and tends to be more focal- meaning it stays in one general area. These statements are generalizations & not all pain is "textbook.".
