Treatment: A dentist is fully capable of fixing this type of problem. Often the tooth can be save with root canal and crown treatment.

Needs root canal: There is probably a history of trauma to the tooth and now the nerve has died. If this tooth as already had a root canal you could do bleaching or a crown or bonded restoration. If it has not had a root canal, it may need one. It is also possible that the tooth is turning black due to decay or to an old silver filling that is beginning to leak. Please have dentist evaluate with an x-ray/ exam.

Couple options: Either do a root canal to save the tooth or have the tooth removed. See a dentist asap to get treated.

Darkening tooth: May be due to an old silver filling or a necrotic (dead) tooth. Please see an Endodontist, a root canal specialist. There are treatments that can help.
