Hit in tooth: Unless the tooth is fractured, it's probably too soon to tell. An injured nerve may die or may heal over time. You should have the tooth examined and checked with an x-ray as soon as possible, and then follow-up periodically to check on the health of the tooth. Call your dentist for an examination.

Tooth trauma: It is impossible to tell you if your tooth is dead after being hit without doing an evaluation that includes X-ray and pulp testing. You tooth may not be painful even with a dead nerve. Your tooth may turn dark. See a dentist Nd get the tooth checked.

Probably Not: Teeth are resilient and can withstand a lot of trauma. You didn't mention whether the pain continued or went away. If the pain went away and the tooth is not loose and you can chew comfortably, you should be OK.

Not likely: Concussed teeth will be tender to touch or bite due to an inflamed and injured periodontal ligament. Try to avoid biting on these teeth, take NSAID OTC and be patient. If symptoms last more than two weeks, you should see your dentist.

Evaluation: You need to see your Dentist to examine your mouth, x-ray for bone/tooth root fractures, and to administer vitality testing. If non-vital, if the nerve of the tooth has died, root canal treatment is recommended.
