Supportive treatment: Patients at home with influenza need rest, lots of fluid, and medications to manage symptoms. Your doctor or pharmacist can help you with this. It is important to wash hands well, cover coughs, etc., to avoid spread to others. Remember that if you are just getting influenza, you may be able to abort it with tamiflu (oseltamivir) in the first 48 hours. Hospitalization can be needed if very ill; go in if worried.

It is going around: Home remedies for influenza: over the counter Mucinex (guaifenesin) for congestion. Ginger for stomach problems or sore throat. Garlic tea to boost immunity. If throat red, raw, or painful ... Go see doctor. If having trouble breathing, go see doctor. Hope you get well soon.
