A member asked:

My upper molar is throbbing, does this mean i need a root canal?

Possibly.: Throbbing after stimulation with hot or cold suggests you need endodontics. Continual throbbing suggests a root canal problem. Sometimes throbbing can mean a gum problem. See your dentist for a proper diagnosis.

Not necessarily: Although root canal therapy may be required, pain in the upper molar could occur for a host of reasons. A correct diagnosis is based on a multitude of findings. The process of diagnosis would be best handled by a qualified dentist, using x-rays, history and a comprehensive clinical exam. Give your local dentist a call for the best care.
