None: If you have deposits on your teeth you should not try to cover them up because you will end up with gum disease and ultimately loose your teeth. You should go to the dentist and have your teeth cleaned first. Then you can try any thing you want, just remember that over the counter products are not very efficient and may not be as safe as the ones done by your dentist.

CAN'T WHITEN TARTAR: Tartar, also known as calculus, is hardened plaque on your teeth and needs to be removed by a dentist or hygienist. Do you mean whitening tooth paste? If that's the case also refer to my answer above.

Ineffective: Tartar is a collection of bacteria that absorbs calcium and create a coral-like effect. It does not respond to whitening. Tartar is considered a bacterial infection and should be removed for tooth and gum health (which will also improve esthetics). Tartar leads to gum disease which is the #2 cause for tooth loss. Please see your dentist.

Best Tartar: Best way to manage tartar and/or calculus build up is to develop a more frequent recare periodontal maintenance protocol with your hygienist or dentist, like every three months if you're building up tartar very rapidly.

Professional cleanin: Best is to get your teeth cleaned professionally if you have tartar or calculus. Then if you want to whiten your teeth, best will be an in-office teeth whitening. Or you can use home teeth whitening with custom trays made by your dentist. You can also use over the counter products, but you won't get the same results.

None: Tooth whitening gels will not work on tartar. It is necessary to have the tartar removed at a professional cleaning. Then use the whitening gel.

Remove calculus: You really need to have the tartar or calculus removed from your teeth, because it can be an irritant that leads to gingival inflammation or it can aid in the progression to periodontal disease. You don't want whiter tartar!

Dentist: Tooth whitening gel does NOT remove tarter. Your Dentist has to do that for you. And the best tooth whitening is provided by your Dentist, OTC products don't come close. If you have tarter on your teeth it's causing gun/bone destruction. It must be removed before even considering whitening. Please take advantage of all your Dentist's years of training and experience. This isn't a DIY project

Whitening gel: Your ? is putting the cart before the horse. First of all you do not whiten tartar, you have it removed by a dental professional. Secondly, as long as no restorative or periodontal treatment is necessary after said tartar removal then you can have your dentist suggest a whitening system for you. You don't take a shower with your clothes on! You must clean your teeth before whitening.
