When your hands are bone dry, will it sting/be painful when you put any type of lotion on them?

Ingredients!: Whether the lotion hurts when applied depends on how broken down the skin is and what ingredients the lotions have. If the lotion contains alcohol of any type, and you put that on moderately raw skin, it will sting and burn. Look for products that are alcohol free. Ointments also tend to be less irritating in general than lotions. Also steer clear of perfumes and extra ingredients!
