How high?: Many parents suspect that teething causes fever, but researchers say this isn't true. Teething may cause a slightly elevated temperature, but not rising into the febrile range- above 100-101f. You’re your pediatrician for his\her opinion and advice.

No he should not: The real answer is that some kids do., but any fever greater than 101 degrees should be investigated by a pediatricitian. We are taught that children do not get fever with teething, that said, as a mother , some kids do get a low grade fever with every tooth. You can treat teetthing with cool toys, and tylenol (acetaminophen). Do not use ambesol as it can cause a burn. Topical Benzocaine can be used sparingly.

Depends: Depends upon whom you ask. Some people think that teething can cause a mild fever and some say it is merely a coincidence. It might be a cold that your child caught and is teething at the same time. Bottom line if your child is running a fever please use palliative measures to help your child feel better. Frozen teething rings, appropriate tylenol (acetaminophen) for age and weight and encourage fluids.
