Multifactorial: The basic color for the iris and eyes is brown. Depending on genetics and light refracting through the eyes we get a spectrum of colors. It is a complex multifactorial process. Your quesiton has be seeing colors! google it! it is a very interesting biological process.

Iris Pigmentation: The more the iris is pigmented, the darker the eye color. Blue eyes have very little pigment whereas brown have the most.
