A member asked:

What is the difference between an early miscarriage and a blighted ovum? or is it the same thing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can be same : A blighted ovum or anembryonic pregnancy is where the gestational sac develops but the embryo does not. This happens early in pregnancy so could be considered an "early miscarriage." the term "early miscarriage" is not used in the medical field because it is very non-specific.
