Go to the ER: Dog bites usually penetrate deeper than can be seen by the eye. Joint infections and hand compartment infections are common after a penetrating injury such as a dog bite. Swelling may indicate a deeper infection and require surgical drainage. Go to the er or see a hand specialist asap.
