Biopsy: I am unclear if this lesion has been biopsied previously, or if the diagnosis of dysplastic nevus was only made by your doctor looking at it. If it looks dysplastic, i usually favor completely excising it, as these nevi are at increased risk of developing into or harboring a melanoma.

Unlikely: If it has been diagnosed as a dysplastic nevus, it is not a melanoma. Although clinical diagnosis is usually very accurate, the only way to definitively know is to have a biopsy performed.

Biopsy it: If it concerns you, then you should have a skin biopsy performed. They are simple to perform and relatively painless. Then you will have you answer.
