Possibly: Inflammation of the shoulder (bursitis/tendinitis) can be due to overuse or associated with an injury such as a rotator cuff tendon tear. Treatment, including physical therapy and exercise, can help significantly, but the tear of your rotator cuff may be a source of ongoing shoulder problems. Seek an orthopaedic surgery consult to discuss further.

Sometimes: Bursitis and partial tears often respond well to conservative treatment such as nsaids, injections, icing and physical therapy. The rotator cuff is a common spot for our bodies to gradually wear out and it is not uncommon for a partial tear to gradually worsen and become a complete tear. There is no proven way to prevent this, so use the shoulder as tolerated and if hurts see a shoulder surgeon.
