Liver failure: The liver is the bodies management to toxins and clotting factors for the blood. The body tends to bleed easily. The serum ammonia goes up, and the patient goes to sleep. Medicine has small interventions to forstall the process, but a transplant is the real viable option.

Many things: The liver is responsible for a large number of functions. When people are dying of liver failure they often are confused, more susceptible to infection, bruise easily, have yellowing of the skin and eyes, have swelling of legs and abdomen, and may develop kidney failure or respiratory failure. Liver failure may also lead to dilatation of the blood vessels of the esophagus which can bleed.
