A member asked:

If someone is dying from liver failure due to cirrhosis, how do you know when the end is near?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Functional decline: End stage liver disease is characterized by jaundice(yellow eyes and skin), ascites(swoolen belly) and toward the very end, confusion, sleepiness and weight loss. Ultimately the kidneys also fail, so ther is less urine output. Most people will fall asleep into a deep coma as the end is near.
