Diarrhea, gas, pain: If you are lactose intolerant, then your body dose not either produce enough of the enzyme lactase to break down milk carbohydrate (sugar), or the lactase enzyme does not function properly to break down lactose (cow's milk carbohydrate). In either case if you have lactose products you will feel uncomfortable, have abdominal pains, cramping, gassy and diarrhea symptoms temporarily.
