Gatorade or the like: Gatorade and similar electrolyte drinks are an excellent way to keep your electrolytes in balance during and after rigorous exercise. As a marathon runner, i make sure that i drink as much gatorade as water during a run. The reason for this is if you sweat a lot and then drink a lot of water (which does not replenish electrolytes), your sodium and potassium can become dangerously out of balance.

Gatorade type drinks: Electrolyte-containing drinks like gatorade and poweraid supply electrolytes like sodium and potassium lost during sweating. Fruits like bananas, oranges and pretzels can be healthy ways to replenish electrolytes as well. High level endurance athletes and very salty sweaters may also take electrolyte containing supplements/pills before, during and after exercise in hot & humid environments.
