Painful sore on gums, what could be wrong?

Sore on gums: You need to see your dentist to get definitive diagnosis. Could be a canker sore...Could be some sort of viral sore...Could be some sort of gum or nerve infection...Only way to know is to go in and get an exam and probably an x-ray. Make the call and get into your dentist.

Family dentist: There are many things it could be- the most common being an apthous ulcer(canker sore)..... Could also be an abcess from tooth or gum..... You should visit your dentist for an examination.
