Ulceration: Might be a small ulceration or break down of skin over that area. It should heal on it's own assuming it doesn't get infected. If it becomes a problem, follow up with your Dentist. Take care.

Hard or soft ?: A hard bump may be a bony exostosis, a soft bump may be an abscess. Have your dentist take a look. Pain has nothing to do with it.
