Possible muscle tear: You are in the correct age range to sustain a variable tear of the muscle belly of the calf (gastrocnemius) muscle in its muscle belly just below the knee joint. With such injury a hematoma may form within the muscle which can cause considerable pain until the hematoma resolves slowly with time, compression, rest and ice.
