A member asked:

I'm a 37 yr old female. 13 months ago i had a kidney stone, now shingles! is this a sign of cancer? should i be looking for something wrong with me

NO: Kidney stone formation is often diet related with uric acid and calcium as the primary components. Herpes zoster that causes shingles is a virus and is not a predisposition to cancer. As we progress through "life" ailments are a requiste for "passage" for stones and life. See a md regularly so that life for you will not be a "four letter word.".

Unlikely: Both kidney stones and shingles are relatively common. I would not necessarily tie them together, and they are not common presenting symptoms for cancer. If your health is otherwise ok, i would not go doing any cancer screening labs at this time.
