Bad idea: Opioids like long-acting morphine, are not preferred treatments for restless leg syndrome. They are not indicated for this problem, although both opioids and tranquillizers (benzodiazepines) can reduce the symptoms. However, they cause physical dependence, and typically the dose goes up over time. Drugs like ropinirole and pramipexol are the first line treatments. Low iron should also be treated.
