A member asked:

Is it hard for someone with allergic asthma to belly breathe. years of stress and anxiety have turned me into a chest breather. diaphragm feels weak.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Asthma v. Anxiety: 1-asthma (low oxygen) causes anxiety. 2- much anti asthma meds bronchodilators i.E albuterol/theophylline cause anxiety. Your asthma doctor has a fine line to make sure that none of 1&2 cause you be more anxious. Anxiety does not cause asthma. Panic attacks or severe anxiety attacks can mimic a condition similar to asthma, but overalll oxygen saturation in panic attacks is very good.
