Very very rare: It is possible for long standing sinus infections that are not treated with antibiotics to cause bone infections and spread into the brain causing meningitis. Itp, also called idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, is a rare disease in which the immune system destroys platelets. Viral infections and drugs can cause itp. Theoretically a viral infection causing sinusitis can cause itp.
