Which type?: Both types 1& 2 are the result of Insulin deficiency. Type 1 is the result of autoimmune attack on the cells in the pancreas which make insulin. Type 2 is more complicated, but in general terms, there is a relative Insulin deficiency where the insulin-producing cells can no longer keep up with the body's Insulin resistance.
