Not advisible: Firstly, the neosporin you buy over the counter is not formulated for the eye and will likely burn and sting. Secondly, the vast majority of cases of infectious conjunctivitis are viral in adults, and so neosporin (an antibacterial agent) will not protect you anyway. Good hygiene and avoiding infected individuals is the best prevention.

No: Topical neosporin is not formulated for use in or around the eye. The "eye version" of neosporin is used to treat bacterial infections. "pink eye" is a viral infection. Antibiotics are useless to treat or shorten the length of time someone has pink eye. In addition, a significant number if people are allergic to the "eye version" of neosporin.
