Yes: A mouthguard is effective in preventing biting oral tissues while sleeping. The mouthguard covers the teeth in the upper or lower arch, or both. They can be custom made by a dentist or they can be obtained at a drug store or sporting goods store (athletic mouthguard). An exam by a dentist can help in deciding which one to use.

See your dentist.: A nightguard or adjusting your bite may help.

TMJ/Muscle Problems: You may also have a TMJ or muscle dysfunction problem that is getting worse. There are times that a bionator (one type of function orthopedic appliance) may be of great help especially when using for sleeping as well as when you can during the day. This tends to retrain and heal the muscles to help them function normally. Find a dentist that is familiar with TMJ & use of a bionator.
