3-6 weeks: Length of immobilization is based on two key factors, one how long it takes bones to heal (about 6 weeks) and the risk of a specific joint to get stiff. Fingers and elbows seem to have a higher risk of getting stiff so early protected range of motion is usually recommended after a shorter term of splinting.
