Generally good.: In full disclosure, i'm a family doctor - not a nephrologist. But the best opportunity for normal kidney function is a functioning kidney - by way of a living donor or cadaver transplant. There is information about daily nocturnal home hemodialysis being roughly equivalent to cadaver transplant. But your chances of living as normally as possible go way up with a transplant! good luck. 93-97%: The results following kidney transplant are 93% chance of being alive and off dialysis one year after kidney transplant. These chances improve if a live donor is available to donate a kidney.

Improved life: Most dialysis patients will enjoy a better quality of life and longer life span after kidney transplantation. It is also known that long history of dialysis (>~1 year) before transplant has a negative impact on the post-transplant outcome. If you have a potential living donor, it is better to have a transplant surgery as early as possible.
