Go to a doctor: He would need. Comprehensive cardiac risk evaluation and aggressive medical treatment to avoid a repeat event. A heart healthy diet, participation in cardiac rehab would also be important. If he smokes has to quit. If heavy needs to lose weight. There are standard medical treatments for this scenario and ideally he should have been evaluated and treated at the time of hs original event.

Heart attack: Risk factor modification is the best way- if pertinent, blood pressure control, diabetes control, cholesterol management, diet, exercise and stop smoking, again if pertinent. Family history is a factor that cannot be modified.
