A member asked:

My breast cancer was painful at the lump site... do i need to be concerned?

Yes and No: Yes, the breast cancer needs to be promptly and properly diagnosed, staged and treated. No, the presence of pain does not alter the work up, treatment or prognosis- so no need for added concern.

I agree with Dr Kim.: If you have already had a lumpectomy, pain at the biopsy site is not uncommon and is usually related to focal scarring or a residual seroma (a pocket of fluid that fills the lumpectomy site.).
