Not recommended: Prolonged use of oral medications for preterm labor are recommended against due to their lack of efficacy in preventing preterm labor and preterm birth and the risks associated with use of these medications without demonstrated benefit. Contractions are not unusual in the 3rd trimester and are not a concern if they are not associated with cervical change.
