Gynecomastia: Three phases of male breast enlargement. Birth, puberty and late adulthood. Your son is at the puberty phase and is normal due to hormonal changes. If no regression is seen in two years it maybe permanent at this stage. Pediatric endocrine doctor can run a few blood tests to ensure all is normal. No improvement then surgery is optional.http://www.talroudnerplasticsurgery.com/male/male-breast-reduc.

Teen gynecomastia: It is normal for the male breast to enlarge at puberty. Often this resolves as the adolescent hormones stabilize. If the fullness has not resolved over a year, especially if the fullness is disproportionate, surgical gynecomastia reduction can be performed. Consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon can provide you with specific options.
