Cheilitis: Chapped lips (cheilitis) are lips that appear dry, scaly, and may have one or more small cracks (fissures). Often, the lips are sensitive, and there may or may not be redness (erythema) and swelling (edema) present. Retinoids (isotretinoin and acitretin) are the most frequent drug-induced causes for chapped lips. Other drugs have also been reported as well as licking the lips. Otc aquaphor oint.

Allergic dermatitis: There are many reasons for your lips to be cracked and sore. Lip lickers dermatitis is common in young adults. It can become a nervous habit. Contact dermatitis from lipstick, toothpaste, cinnamon gum can also cause cracking and lip dryness. Vaseline is great for lips as a barrier cream. I would avoid any lip product that has ingredient called propolis. It can often cause allergic reaction.
