Gum recession: Usually signifies loss of underlying bone. Can be from gum infection, improperly aligned teeth, poorly positioned teeth, grinding/clenching, overly aggressive oral hygiene, pernicious habits, and so many other causes. Can result in teeth appearing overly long, black triangles between teeth, tooth loosening and/or shifting, etc. Please see your Dentist or a gum/bone specialist Periodontist.

Frenum: Gum recession can also be due to attached frenum tissue too close to the gum margin. During function and brushing can pull the tissue and can later expose the neck part of the tooth- and the root in severe cases. It can cause sensitivity esp to cold temperature.
