Important factor: The cup to disc ratio refers to the amount of depression that is in the center of the optic nerve. As glaucoma progresses this depression enlarges because the eye nerves are dying. Asymmetrical not symmetrical cup to disc ratios are usually a clue to the presence of glaucoma. An examination is important.
