What is too much?: All products should be used in moderation. Brushing and flossing twice a day should be adequate to keep your mouth health and clean. Toothpaste can be abrasive, so extensive overuse can wear away your enamel.

No: Never heard or seen reports in the literature that it has caused a problem.

No just no ingestion: Toothpaste should be used according to manufacturers instructions. Too much toothpaste is wasteful and if ingested could result in problems.

ABSOLUTELY, YES: Toothpaste is abrasive. You only need a small amount to do the trick. Do not cover the entire length of the toothbrush. Use only the size of a pea.

Not the toothpaste: Most toothpastes do have microparticles that can be abrasive. However it is the motion of your brush that wipes away your gums to expose soft root stucture (not the hard enamel surface) that the is subject to erosion from the normal acidic content of foods. Brushing up-down, in circles, brushing the gums etc will all eventually multilate root surfaces. Use a vibratory motion one area at a time!

Possibly but...: Hard to say how much toothpaste you are using, but it's the brush, your tooth brushing techniques and duration- not the toothpaste that will clean your teeth (including using floss, of course.).
