Any type: How badly a facial fracture effects your appearance after healing will depend on how severe the fracture was. Obviously fractures of the upper or lower jaw can displace teeth and/or cause tooth loss, again depending on severity. A sports mouth guard should be worn for all contact sports to help avoid these types of injuries.

Facial fractures: Every fracture, particularly those of either the upper and lower jawbone or both, in a tooth bearing area or not, can affect your appearance and displace teeth. Those that don't involve teeth (eye socket, nose, cheekbone, etc) can affect appearance but rarely involve teeth or tooth position. All need expert evaluation and a frank discussion of need for treatment.
