Antacid & Physician: Rinsing your mouth with a liquid antacid can help with the burning, but it only makes you more comfortable, it doesn't fix the problem. Beside seeing a dentist, you should see your physician and get checked for diabetes, a common cause of burning tongues. Another cause can be an excessively dry mouth.

Also: There are other conditions that can cause a burning sensation in the mouth. It can range from toothpaste, vitamin deficiencies, being anemic, fungal infection or a neurological disorder called burning mouth. I would suggest seeing a physician to rule out a systemic problem and see a dental specialist in orofacial pain or oral medicine if nothing can be found by the physician.
