Probably: In most cases, antidepressants should be weaned. There is one that is the easiest to get off of - Prozac (fluoxetine) . Because of a seven day half-life of one of the active metabolites, it tapers and fades gently all on its own. However, even if you've been on that one for ten years, you should probably have your dosage reduced gradually. Other antidepressants, can have severe withdrawal syymptoms.

Doc to your doc: Most of the time psych meds are weaned off slowly, but there are medications with long half life like Prozac (fluoxetine) which don't have to be as they stay in your system for so long.
