You need an exam: Central chest pain can have benign and serious causes. Until you know you should get it checked out. Common causes of pain you describe run from heart related causes such as angina, aneurysms, to gastrointestinal such as ulcers, gall bladder, and reflux to musculoskeletal issues. This list is nowhere comprehensive. So while the cause might be more annoying than dangerous, it is important to check.
