Outside control: External locus (location) of control means that your behavior is not self-directed and motivated by people or events outside of you. Examples: a child who completes homework without prompts is self-directed, relys on inner resources so has internal locus of control. A child who only does homework because of nagging, threats, punishment depends on outside force and has external locus of control?

"Locus of control": Usually this means that the patient excessively allows external situations or other people to determine what s/he does or doesn't do, what s/he says, how s/he makes decisions. Internal locus of control means you make decisions through your own assessments and in alignment with your own goals & interests, rather than trying to conform to expectations. In health, we relate with others in balance.
