Can happen: Dental infections, particularly of the apices of the teeth, and the gingivae can result in extension of infection either directly or through the bloodstream. If you think you are having symptoms suggestive of infection would suggest you see a good physician asap.

Yes: The bacteria that cause the infection around your teeth have a direct access into the blood stream and can cause problems elsewhere. I would recommend you check with the doctor that took the teeth out.
