Prevents bleeding: Platelets are the cells that help prevent bruising and bleeding. Small pinprick red lesions on skin can be due to low platelets called petechiae. Occurs when platelets are less than 30, 000. Ould also be due to capillary rupture. Have a platelet count checked. Hope this helps.
