Yes: If the adenoids are enlarged it can make it difficult for mucus to drain normally down the back of the throat. If this occurs the mucus can thicken and can trigger a cough. Often enlarged adenoids can also cause patients to snore and can significantly effect sleep patterns. Patients will often be mouth breathers as well which can dry the mucus membranes and can also contribute to coughing.
