High dose vit D3: In an italian study women with menstrual cramps were given a capsule of 300, 000 units of vit d3 in a capsule once a month before the pains occurred. That averages to 10, 000 units day. Zinc and magnesium are also good for pain because they inhibit the mediator of pain substance p. Regular exercise through the month is helpful as well as a good diet, sleep, and stress reduction.
