A member asked:

Can your thyroid cause your glands to swell in your neck and bumps on your head. t4 was 4.78?

No: The thyroid is in the anterior neck and does not effect lymph glands in other areas. Nose, face and throat infections will lead to swelling of the "glands" in your neck. Other thyroid tests in addition to the t4, plus a good physical exam are necessary to determine if your thyroid is functioning normally.

No: It is unclear what is causing your symptoms. The thyroid gland should not be the cause unless there is more going on. Would suggest you be examined by your doctor.

Both: Both benign and cancer conditions can cause lymph node enlargement. For example, lymphocytic thyroiditis (hashimoto's thyroiditis) and papillary thyroid cancer will be associated with enlarged neck lymph nodes. This deserves an evaluation.
