A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nose vs. throat: A cold is viral. It is due to infection by a virus called rhinovirus. It results in nasal congestion, throat irritation, and generalized weakness. Treatment is supportive care and rest. Strep throat is a pharyngitis or inflammation affecting your throat due to the bacteria streptococcus pyogenes. Treatment is with antibiotics.
